What is PCB Pooling?

This is the process through which specialized or small scale operations save money on their Printed Circuit Boards and the costs of the prototypes by the sharing of tools, fabrication panel space and machine set-ups.  The use of CAD software and CAM software in Printed Circuit Board manufacturing has facilitated massive file transfers and high levels of standardization hence the growth of PCB pooling. This has become the natural ways of saving the cost and reduction of prototype prices at competitive rates.
As an example, if Company X requires 4*3.1 boards and Company Y requires 7.6*8.1 boards, fitting each board on different (18*24) PCB fabrication panels would be a waste of manufacturing space. A single fabrication board is sufficient and this is Printed Circuit Board Pooling.
